  • Book Sales
Our semi-annual Book Sale (in April and November) adds missing titles to your personal collection and raises much-needed funds to supplement programs and services that the Richmond Public Library provides.

    Richmond Writers Series
We have coordinated this program for over a decade as a way for local authors to connect with Friends members through readings, presentations and interaction with patrons of the Richmond Public Library.  Richmond Writers Series events take place on most First Fridays from September through June of each year.  The program typically begin at 7 p.m. in the Davenport Room (Special Collections) of Main Library at 101 E. Franklin Street.

    Children’s Programs
First Lady (and former librarian) Laura Bush once said, “Libraries allow children to ask questions about the world and find the answers.  And the wonderful thing is that once a child learns to use a library, the doors to learning are always open.”  The Friends are proud to support the RPL’s annual Summer Reading Program and to foster a love of learning to last a lifetime.

    Check It Out Newsletter
To help you stay up-to-date with what’s happening at the RPL, the Friends sponsor the monthly “Check It Out” newsletter for our members and Library patrons. We would be happy to share an electronic copy with you.

Sign up for the newsletter and our email alerts above by entering your email address above under CHECK IT OUT and clicking GO. (We promise not to abuse the privilege.) Also, ‘like” our page on Facebook to learn about special events and programs, e.g., our semi-annual Drive-Thru Book Drive and special Library Park Concert Series.
